This time, it was Alex O’Loughlin who needed help from the Hawaii authorities.
The actor, 39, who is normally the one doing the saving as detective Steve McGarrett on Hawaii Five-0, needed a visit from the Honolulu Fire Department on Monday to extinguish a fire that started in his garage and threatened the rest of his $4 million Diamond Head home on O’ahu.
Neighbors told Hawaii News Now that an explosion rang out around 3:45 p.m., the garage door blew off, and smoke began billowing out. Some 50 firefighters responded, and the fire was controlled by 4:11 p.m.
No one was hurt.
O’Loughlin wasn’t home at the time but later returned to survey the damage, estimated at $110,000.
“The first company arriving found smoke and flame coming out of the garage,” said HFD Capt. Terry Seelig. “The fire appears to have caused heavy damage to the garage and its contents and nothing to the house.”
