There is no doubt that Gwyneth Paltrow has completely changed the concept of a break-up by introducing the world to the term “consciously uncoupling.”
Now Paltrow’s lifestyle website, Goop, is promoting a book that explains the science behind it all. Sort of.
“We definitely broke the internet when GP (Paltrow) referenced this specific, gentler way to to break up back in 2014,” stated the website. “Originally coined an taught by the brilliant marriage and family therapist Katherine Woodward Thomas, the concept Conscious Uncoupling had quietly inspired and influenced a community of counselors – until, of course, we accidentally blew it up.”
Continuing, “After the initial WTF?!?, there was a lot of interest in what it actually means, and as GP, her ex (Chris Martin), and their children have continued to stay very much a family in spite of the split, there has been a lot of interest in how to actually do it.”
How do they do it?
The famously amicable couple, who share two children together – Moses, 9, and Apple, 11 – have made family a priority since day one. Martin previously said in an interview with Valentine in the Morning that him and Paltrow remain “very close.”
The site continues by introducing the book that Woodward Thomas wrote called Conscious Uncoupling: 5 Steps to Living Happily Ever After and describes it as a “manual that outlines and delves into ways a relationship can be completed and used as an opportunity for true healing and empowerment.”
