Some people hydrate for sporting competitions with water or energy drinks.
Some people – like True Blood star Ryan Kwanten – prefer booze.
“I’ve been known to turn up drunk at triathlons and do very well,” the Australian actor, 33, tells Men’s Health magazine in its November issue.
Known for his buff bod he so often flaunts on the HBO vampire series, Kwanten says his workout regimes are not just for True Blood, and he plans to keep his physique.
“I’m not one of those actors who gets physically fit for a role and then loses it all again,” he says. “I’m very rarely in the gym. My workouts are predominately outside, in nature.”
But it’s not just about his biceps: the health conscious star says he applies his workout mantra to his acting career – and success.
“I have that sporting background where I want to be the best. I want to be the champion,” he says. “If I’m knocked down, you’re damn sure I’m getting back up again. A lot of actors who may very well be more talented than me don’t have that kind of tenacity in the face of rejection. That resilience gives me a distinct advantage.”
