Dressed in shorts and a tank top, Theroux, 39, who last month went house-hunting with the actress, 42, put his tattoos on display when the couple squeezed in some shopping in Kauai, where they were vacationing.
An image of the grim reaper with a sickle that reads “Best of Luck” is inked on his left shin (pictured). He also has a butterfly tattooed on his left calf and, on his feet, a pair of swallows, which symbolize luck.
“The rich will set you free,” accompanied by four black bars – punk band Black Flag’s signature logo – adorns his right knee. Theroux himself inked a small “x” on his inner left ankle when he was 14 and “straight edge,” a punk-rock culture that refrains from alcohol, tobacco and drug use.
The body art doesn’t stop there. The actor has emblazoned on the front of his right ankle the phrase “Odi et Amo,” which translates to “I hate and I love” from Roman poet Catullus. On his right shin: a barred cross.
Theroux shares a tattoo design with his friend, restaurant owner Matt Kliegman. The pals got matching tattoos on their upper right shins.
His arms also got the tat treatment. A black target is inked on the inside of his left wrist, while a pair of scissors is inked on his inner right wrist.
Perhaps he has a thing for creatures – real and mystical. An image of a small insect is tattooed on his inner right bicep, and his right shoulder is emblazoned with a picture of a dragon.
And maybe Aniston’s taking style cues from her new beau. After all, she debuted her first tattoo, which paid homage to her late dog Norman, just a month after they first stepped out together.
Earlier this summer, Theroux showed off a torso tattoo while double-dating with Aniston, her Horrible Bosses costar Jason Bateman and his wife Amanda Anka at New York’s Il Cantinori restaurant. Still anxiously awaiting a shirtless shot to see that one!
