Demi Lovato is defending her racy shoot for the September issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.

The singer, 23, flaunts her curves in very low-cut silver sequined romper for the magazine’s cover – and she’s not apologizing for showing some serious skin.

“It took so much for me to get to a place where I would feel comfortable enough to do that, and if anything it’s [for] all of my fans who know my story and my journey,” Lovato – who has struggled with eating disorders in the past – told E! News. “I’ve gone from hating every inch of my body to doing a photo shoot in my underwear in front of the entire world.”

Lovato wants her self-confidence to outshine the overt sexiness of the photos.

“That’s more of a statement to me than looking sexy on a magazine cover,” she said. “It’s so important for me to show people that.”

For anyone who says the pop star is a bad influence, Lovato has a simple solution.

“Watch your damn kids,” she said. “If you don’t want them reading the magazine, watch your kids!”

Lovato recently posted on Instagram about learning to love her curves, thanks to a little help from longtime boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrrama.

“Learn to lurrrrrvveee yerrrrr currrrrvveees,” she captioned a post last month. “I actually used to hate them… But then a special someone helped me learn how to love them… And he sure loves them….”
