“We actually bonded over lobster pizza at Berri’s Cafe on 3rd Street [in Los Angeles,]” says Bailon.
But being foodies led to packing on a few pounds. So when they got engaged in August, the couple decided to challenge each other to get fit for their big day.
“We gained weight together and now we’re losing it together,” says Bailon, 32, whose wedding is featured in the current issue PEOPLE.
By doing 45 minutes of cardio twice a day and hitting the gym with trainer Massy Arias — as well as cutting out carbs and drinking — Bailon says she lost 22 lbs. before her wedding this past Friday.

“I love the way my clothes are fitting so much that I don’t want to stop,” says Bailon, who admits she increased her trainer sessions in the weeks leading up to her Paris nuptials. “I want this to become a lifestyle. I’m enjoying working out. I enjoy the way it makes me feel.”
But while Bailon is proud of her 22-lb. weight loss, she has a big goal in mind: surpassing Houghton’s recent milestone.
“Israel has lost 25 lbs.,” she says of her 45-year-old husband. “So he’s beating me, but I’m competitive — so wait for it!”
