It might not be long before Shai Aleksander has a new baby cousin!
The 11-month-old’s dad Maks Chmerkovskiy and his brother, fellow Dancing with the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy, dropped by the PEOPLE Now studios recently to talk all things dance and family — with Val admitting he has a bit of baby fever.
“Unfortunately, she doesn’t,” jokes the professional dancer, 31, of girlfriend Jenna Johnson with a laugh. “No she does, she does. I think she would love to be a mother, but she also has so many incredible things going on in her life and I would feel very selfish to interrupt them for nine months.”
Adds Val of his hopes for starting a family with the DWTS dance troupe member, 23, “Definitely soon — hopefully, right?”

Val takes the opportunity to poke a bit at his big brother, adding, “We’re gonna do it last-century style,” referring to tying the knot before having a child together.
“I’m like Nike, at this point: Just do it,” jokes Maks, 37, whose son with now-wife Peta Murgatroyd was born six months before his parents said their “I do”s in a July fairy-tale wedding that took place at Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York.
It’s likely difficult not to have baby fever around Maks, though. As Val explains of his brother, “The way he talks about his son is crazy … [He’ll be like], ‘Today, man, he gripped a water bottle.’ ”
“When you talk about a 10-month-old grabbing a water bottle with both hands, taking it with him … he put it down and he spun it open with his thumb and I’m looking at him like, ‘What?’ ” Maks explains, in his defense.
“He knows what the thumbs do!” adds the proud uncle.

Maks also reveals he was the first one to change Shai’s dirty diaper. “I thought it would be of value if I did and then I did and it worked and I was like, ‘Oh great, I can do it.’ ”
Baby Shai will join his parents and uncle on tour next spring — and the brothers can’t wait for the fun that will bring.
