WATCH: Simon Cowell's 3-Year-Old Son Eric Takes Control of America's Got Talent Buzzer

Posted on

Like father, like son.

On Tuesday, Simon Cowell returned to television in the season 12 premiere of America’s Got Talent and he brought with him a very special guest — his 3-year-old son Eric!

In a behind-the-scenes clip from the hit NBC show posted to Twitter, the 57-year-old judge — known for his harsh critiques — showed off his sweeter side, hanging with Eric in between acts.

“Are you trying to do my job? What do I do?” Cowell asks his son — as Eric presses the show’s iconic red buzzer over and over again. “That is my job!”

“Just like your daddy,” judge Heidi Klum tells the young boy.

Cowell may be back for another season of AGT, but there’s one show he won’t be returning to: American Idol

The acclaimed singing competition, which is coming back to television in a new reboot by ABC, won’t have Cowell — one of its original judges — on its judging panel when it kicks off in 2018.

“I was asked to do it, and the answer is no,” Cowell told Extra recently.

“I have no interest,” he added. “My memories are when we first started. It was a different time with Randy [Jackson], Ryan [Seacrest] and Paula [Abdul]. You can’t recreate that.”

Cowell, who exited American Idol in 2010, admitted, “Last time I watched, it was not the same show, just the same name. I left for a reason and I never regretted that.”
