The stand-up comedian and his artist wife Lana have welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Serafina Simone Maniscalco, he announced Friday on Instagram.

The brand new dad explained the meaning behind Serafina’s name on Instagram, captioning a photo collage of her first days alongside her parents.

“Serafina was my grandmother’s name, Simone is Lana’s mom, and Serafina Simone is our baby girl!” he wrote alongside the sweet introductory post.

Lana shared her own photo on Sunday of her mother holding her new granddaughter (and partial namesake!). “Happy Mother’s Day to my momma! @monielutgert hanging last week with baby girl-Serafina Simone,” Lana captioned the shot. “Love you mama and thanks for showing me what it takes to be an awesome mother!!! 💖💖💖”

The couple celebrated their baby girl’s impending arrival by throwing a “Baby Bash” in April. As Maniscalco told PEOPLE, “We thought it would be boring to throw a baby shower.”

At the time, the parents-to-be already knew they were expecting a daughter — “We are planners, so we wanted to get a jump-start on purchasing clothes and preparing the nursery,” Maniscalco said — but were keeping the name under wraps until her birth.

“I’m looking forward to the baby squeezing my finger and [me] squeezing her chubby legs,” he told PEOPLE, adding that the duo would be bringing their little one on the road for his shows.
