Katie Holmes may have taken on directing duties on the Reelz miniseries she stars in, The Kennedys – After Camelot, but it was her adorable daughter, Suri, who apparently had the biggest blast on set.
At the show’s premiere on Wednesday in Beverly Hills, Holmes’ cast and crew members revealed that the actress’ 10-year-old mini-me daughter frequently visited the set to see her mom in action.
Holmes — who plays Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis — directed the third episode of the series, and Suri had her own list of fun things to do while mom was working.
“Katie actually made her a chair that said ‘Director,’ ” Jon Cassar, who directed the miniseries, told PEOPLE of Holmes’ efforts to make a special space for Suri on set. But, he adds, joking, “I taught her how to skip rocks.”
Of course, hair and makeup proved to be a draw for the youngster as well.
“I love when she would come into the trailer,” said Holmes’ costar Kristin Booth, who plays Ethel Kennedy. “She would get hair and makeup done. I have a 5-year-old daughter. When I see Katie wearing the hat of the director, as the star, and being a mom, she’s so inspiring, and she’s really someone to look up to, for sure. And Suri’s adorable.”
On Wednesday night, Holmes stepped out looking fierce at the premiere of After Camelot, wearing an elegant blush silk dress with lace detailing, and her colleagues gave props on how gracefully the star — who made her directorial debut last year with the family drama All We Had — seamlessly transitioned from actress to director on set.
“First of all, those are two full-time jobs,” Cassar explained, “and she did them both at the same time.”

The double duty also made folks do a double-take at times. “She would be directing in costume. You’d look over and go, ‘Wait, Jackie Onassis is, like, behind the monitors? This is so weird,’ ” Cassar quipped.
“It was amazing as an actor to be directed by another actor,” said Kristen Hager, who plays Ted Kennedy’s wife, Joan. “She’s got such fantastic instincts that she gives great notes, and elevates the scenes to really great places. So I would love to work with her again as a director.”
The Kennedys – After Camelot premieres on April 2 at 9 p.m. ET on Reelz.
