“I’ve spent a lot of nights just thinking about this, and my whole thing is if I’m a great dad — you know, if you believe in the kind of Freudian theory that you’re attracted to what your parents [are like] — so I figure if I’m not a total piece of s—, she probably won’t end up dating or marrying a total piece of s—,” says the 30-year-old former star of The Osbournes.
“So that’s the goal,” continues the father of two, who also shares daughter Andy Rose, 16 months, with wife Lisa. “If [I] just be awesome, they will like awesome. And then, in turn, hopefully I like that awesome person.”

Osbourne hasn’t been without his own struggles. Between an addictive past, a multiple sclerosis diagnosis and his wife experiencing a late-term miscarriage in 2013, the former reality star has battled several personal challenges and come out stronger than ever.
One activity he loves to engage in nowadays? Being in the great outdoors — and Pearl is 100 percent on board with her dad’s love for nature.
“She loves the outdoors, so she takes after me a little bit,” says Osbourne, who currently appears with dad Ozzy Osbourne on their History Channel series Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour. “I take her camping as much as I can and take her outdoors. We need that.”
He says he’s “pretty balanced” when it comes to being strict versus a pushover as a parent, but he definitely encourages his older daughter‘s sense of adventure.
“I’ll let them venture out a little bit more than my wife will — my wife’s very like, ‘No, no, no, no, don’t, she could get hurt,’ ” he explains, adding jokingly, “I’m like, ‘Eh, put her on a surfboard, we’ll push her into a wave, she can swim.’ ”
Aside from swimming and being outside, Pearl has one other big interest nowadays — perfectly timed with the Halloween season.
“She loves being scared, I think, so she really likes Halloween, but yet she’s terrified,” says the former Dancing with the Stars contestant. “She just discovered Nightmare Before Christmas and so she wants to know about Jack Skellington and Sally and Mr. Oogie Boogie. And she’s like, ‘Tell me about it!’ and I’m like, ‘Well here, you can see some on YouTube.’ ”
He continues, “And she’s like, ‘No, no, I’m scared, but tell me all about it.’ She’s like, ‘I like it, but I don’t.’ “
