Glowing in Green! Thomas Rhett and Pregnant Wife Lauren Walk the Red Carpet at CMT Awards

Posted on

Sun’s down, bump’s out!

Country star Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren stepped out Wednesday evening in Nashville, Tennessee, to attend the fan-voted CMT Awards, where the singer is set to perform.

Lauren, who is expecting the couple’s second daughter (they adopted Willa Gray, 19 months, from Uganda in May), showed off her baby bump in an elegant emerald green gown while Rhett — who performed his hit “Craving You” — went more casual in a white polo, black slacks and white shoes.

Rhett, 27, is nominated for three awards tonight: CMT performance of the year, male video of the year and video of the year.

Lauren and Thomas Rhett first announced they were expecting a baby and adopting from Africa in February, revealing that their biological child on the way would be a girl later than month.

The mom-to-be made her baby bump debut in early March, hitting the iHeartRadio Music Awards in a black off-the-shoulder dress, black heels and a bold red lip.

“Hey heyyyyy @iheartradio awards are here and baby bump is OUT,” Lauren captioned an Instagram post at the time.

The couple has spoken with PEOPLE extensively following Willa’s adoption, sharing the ups and downs of the process and insisting that it was all well worth it to bring their baby girl home.

“When I met Willa, her story was pretty intense,” Lauren said of the toddler, who’d been brought to a children’s home soon after her birth in November 2015.

“All orphans have heart-wrenching stories, but it felt like this specific baby was ours. I think that the Lord knew what he was doing when he did not let us get pregnant.”

And though Willa and her dad are super close now, he admitted it took her a little while to warm up to him. “I reached for her and she was like, ‘Who the crap are you with that beard?’ ” Thomas Rhett joked to PEOPLE in May. “But I was astonished at how quickly I bonded with her — and how immediately, she just felt like she was my child.”
