The long doll underwear nightmare is over.

After online uproar over American Girl‘s decision to change the cloth body design of their beloved 18-inch dolls, the company has announced they will be returning to their original manufacturing: the collectable dolls’ undies will be removable, once again!

“In recent months, many of you have shared your thoughts on how we can continue delivering the great products you’ve come to expect from us,” American Girl wrote in a statement posted to Facebook.

Outlining the forthcoming changes, the company said, “We will be reverting to the separate underwear design for all of our 18-inch dolls. Starting today, any dolls that are currently in production or any new dolls being developed will now come with removable underwear.”

Dolls with permanent underwear that are already on the market will still be sold, but customers unhappy with the design can exchange their doll’s body for free.

“Thank you for caring enough to share your candid and heartfelt opinions with us, and we are sorry if we disappointed you in any way,” said American Girl.

“Your feedback helps us deliver on our promise to create high-quality products, services, and experiences that nourish a girl’s spirit and help develop her strength of character.”

American Girl initially announced plans for dolls’ underwear to be sewn to their cloth bodies in February. Previously, undergarments for the dolls needed to be separately purchased and could be interchanged like the rest of the company’s toy accessories.

At the time, many parents called the decision a cost-cutting move that decreased the value of the dolls, which retail for over $100.

Customers reacted on Facebook to America Girl’s new statement, with one woman writing, “Wow! How fantastic to see that the company actually listens to its customers and makes appropriate adjustments!!”

Added another, “It takes a great company to listen to its customer base and makes changes!”
