After a year of touring, Adele is ready to expand her family.
The British songstress wrapped up the North American leg of her world tour in Phoenix Monday night and surprised fans by announcing she was “off to have a baby.”
“Give it up for me – I did it!” she told the crowd while ending the sold-out show. “I’ll see you on the other side. In a couple of years I’ll be back. You won’t be able to get rid of me.”
The 28-year-old singer then made a champagne toast with members of her band, opting for white wine herself.
“I’m not going to have any because I’ve got my glorious white wine and I can’t drink it because it wreaks havoc with my acid reflux,” she joked as she poured the celebratory drink.
The mother of 4-year-old Angelo with partner Simon Konecki later shared a photo of a homemade banner from her son that read, “Mummy you did it!!!” to welcome her home after months on the road.
“I just finished my 107 shows in 10 months. 100 percent live every night. I bloody smashed it, even if I do say so myself,” she captioned the Instagram picture. “You lot have been incredible, every night you’ve been so beautiful, loving and engaged.”
She continued, “My band and my crew you made the whole thing turn. And my beautiful family made it easy for me to do.”
Adele has a few months off before heading to Australia and New Zealand in March for the next leg of the tour.
Adele has said that motherhood has changed her perspective on life.
“He makes me so proud of myself, and he makes me like myself so much,” she said of Angelo in a September 2015 TIME story. “And I’ve always liked myself. I’ve never not liked myself. I don’t have hangups like that. But I’m so proud of myself that I made him in my belly. Cooked him in my belly and then he came out of me! This human who’s suddenly walking around and doing his own thing. I can’t wait to know who his best friends are going to be, who his girlfriend or his boyfriend is going to be or what movies he likes … Whatever my kid wants to do or be I will always support him no matter what.”
