Céline Dion and Miss Piggy Could Perform Together at 2015 Oscars

Posted on

A week after the 2014 Oscars, there’s already a reason to get excited for next year’s Academy Awards: a possible Miss Piggy and Céline Dion duet.

Dion will be making her acting debut in the new Muppets movie, Muppets Most Wanted, out March 21. The Canadian songstress appears in the film to help Miss Piggy with some pre-wedding jitters, reports Variety. Together the two divas sing the original song “Something So Right” to calm Piggy’s nerves about her wedding to Kermit the Frog. (Wait a minute! Weren’t Piggy and Kermit already married in 1984’s The Muppets Take Manhattan? Is time a flat circle?)

Muppets Most Wanted director James Bobin told Variety it would be great for the love song to get nominated, so everyone could enjoy a Dion and Miss Piggy Oscars performance.

The pair almost had a musical moment during one of Dion’s TV special in 2007, which only leaves us wanting more.

Thankfully, the Muppets already have a winning history at the Academy Awards. Dion’s duet was written by Bret McKenzie, the same songwriter who walked away with an Oscar in 2011 for The Muppets tune “Man or Muppet.” So keep those hooves crossed for 2015.

For those who want their musical Muppet fix now, Bret McKenzie and Walter the Muppet are hosting a live singalong to The Muppets in New York on Saturday March 15, as part of the New York International Children’s Film Festival. Get the details here.
