With a No. 1 single and a No. 1 album that knocked industry heavyweight Taylor Swift‘s 1989 off the Billboard 200’s top slot, Meghan Trainor burst onto the scene as a pop force to be reckoned with.

Up next? She’s headed to the Grammys, having scored nods in two of the top categories (record and song of the year) for her breakout body-positive anthem, “All About That Bass.”

So who’s Trainor, 21, bringing as her date?

“I’m bringing my family,” she tells PEOPLE. “And my dad will be sitting next to me smiling from ear to ear!”

Still, the singer says she’s still wrapping her head around the past few months’ whirlwind – from having a summer smash hit to her debut EP and LP, both named Title, dropping.

“Last year I was watching the Grammys from home and hoping that one day I would be there,” she says. “Now I can’t even believe it. I’m excited and honored!”

The 57th Grammy Awards air on CBS on Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
