She nabbed the Best Supporting Actress Oscar Sunday for 12 Years a Slave – which also earned the night’s biggest prize – but Lupita Nyong’o also deserves some unofficial honors: Most Charming New Star.

On Live with Kelly and Michael Monday morning, Kelly Ripa asked Nyong’o, 31, whether she’d build a trophy room for all her awards season wares. “I think I have to,” replied the actress, before reconsidering.

“I really have to get a two-bedroom apartment!”

But first, she has to digest her win. “It hasn’t set in,” she said. “I haven’t even slept! It is overwhelming, but at the same time, this is the thing I dreamed for, it’s the thing that I availed myself for. I’m just trying to allow myself to absorb it all.”

Luckily her dream come true is a full-on reality.

“Twelve midnight came and this,” she said, holding her Oscar, “did not disappear.”

Nyong’o made sure of that when out celebrating Sunday. Said the actress with a laugh: “The first half of the night I was being very, very selfish. I wouldn’t let anyone even take a picture with it.”

“No one was holding it. But then, it’s really heavy,” she added of letting her guard down a bit.

When Strahan asked whether he could hold her prize, Nyong’o said he could, “for three seconds!”
