Sosie, 21, has worked in film and television alongside her parents, making her debut in the 2005 movie Loverboy, which her father directed. She also appeared with her mom in The Closer, playing the niece of Sedgwick’s character, Brenda Leigh Johnson.
“As we all know, she comes from a very talented family and this gets us one degree closer to Kevin Bacon,” said HFPA President Theo Kingma in announcing the selection at a party in West Hollywood co-hosted by InStyle magazine.
The annual title is traditionally given to the daughter (or son) of a celebrity, and their responsibility is to assist in handing out the awards. Past honorees include Melanie Griffith and her daughter Dakota Johnson, Laura Dern, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rumer Willis.
Michael J. Fox and Tracey Pollan’s son, Sam, was Mr. Golden Globe this year, and was memorably mentioned by hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in their opening monologue, when they warned Taylor Swift to stay away from the 24-year-old.
Sosie will share the stage with Hollywood movie and TV A-listers on Jan. 12, when the show airs on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.
