Charlie Sheen has been visiting his wife, Brooke Mueller, daily while she is being treated with antibiotics for pneumonia in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital – and the actor plans to skip Saturday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards to be with her.
“Charlie has been great, very attentive and nice to Brooke,” her mother, Moira Fiore, tells PEOPLE, tells PEOPLE. “He is not even going to the SAG Awards tonight. He wants to be with her.”
Mueller, 32, was admitted to the ICU earlier in the week after an infection entered her bloodstream after surgery for an impacted wisdom tooth. The star of Two and a Half Men has visited his wife every day. He is allowed to have contact with Mueller while she remains in the hospital despite a protective order against him resulting from his domestic violence arrest on Christmas Day.
As for Mueller’s condition, “Brooke’s liver and kidneys are better, but doctors are concerned that she still has pneumonia,” says Mueller’s mother. “She is weak and trying to blow into a plastic tube. She is having trouble doing that.”
Due to her illness, the hearing to modify the protective order in an Aspen court has been postponed until Feb. 8.
