After several years of women ruling the show, the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards could be a night for the guys.
Kenny Chesney earned the most nominations with nine, followed by Jason Aldean with six. Both are up for entertainer of the year. Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton are also nominated in that marquee category, with Taylor Swift the lone woman in the group. (Swift won last year, following back-to-back wins by Carrie Underwood.)
Paisley earned four nominations in all, while Swift leads all women with three. Shelton and his wife Miranda Lambert each earned two. Lady Antebellum is the leading group nominee with five nominations. Eli Young Band, Toby Keith and Grace Potter each received three nominations.
In the race for male vocalist of the year, Chris Young joins Aldean, Chesney, Paisley and Shelton. For female vocalist of the year, Swift, Lambert and Underwood are up against Sara Evans and Martina McBride.
The nominees for song of the year are: “Crazy Girl” by the Eli Young Band, “Home” by Dierks Bentley, “Just A Kiss” by Lady Antebellum, “Threaten Me With Heaven” by Vince Gill, and “You And Tequila” by Chesney featuring Grace Potter.
