What’s On This Week
MONDAY, MAY 28
TUESDAY, MAY 29
9 P.M. | FOX
Season finale. A woman and her husband flee Cuba by boat, hoping Dr. H can help with her illness. But once in the hospital she flatlines. Is it the fault of the hospital or her mystery disease?
WEDNESDAY, MAY 30
THE NEXT BEST THING: WHO IS THE GREATEST CELEBRITY IMPERSONATOR?
8 P.M. | ABC
A parade of faux stars (right, not quite Lucille Ball and Mike Myers). Prank idea: What if the $100,000 finale prize were counterfeit money?
10 P.M. | BRAVO
The $100,000 hairstyling contest, graced by the flawlessly tressed Jaclyn Smith, comes to an end. The finalists have to execute three cuts that tell a narrative (short? shorter? shortest?) with Vidal Sassoon as guest judge.
THURSDAY, MAY 31
8 P.M. | CBS
Produced by Survivor‘s Mark Burnett, this reality competition puts 16 adventurers on a boat in the Caribbean and sets them sailing for hidden treasure.
THE STARTER WIFE
USA Network, May 31, 9 P.M. ET| [2.5 stars]
In this six-hour, five-week miniseries, Debra Messing plays Molly Kagan, a Hollywood wife who must rediscover herself after her movie-executive husband dumps her and cancels her life of pampered prestige. Not exactly a fresh story (it’s based on Gigi Levangie Grazer’s 2005 novel), but Messing is a smart, charming actress, and she keeps stepping lightly even as the indignities and implausibilities pile up. (Molly has a fling with a sexy homeless man who sleeps in the bushes of Malibu and reads Philip Roth.) Judy Davis has some ferociously funny moments as a friend who’s in rehab.
