Though singer Michael Bolton and his girlfriend, actress Nicollette Sheridan, called it quits last month, they did it without rancor. Evidently there were no ugly scenes, and both agreed that the three-year relationship had simply run its course. Bolton, who has three daughters from a 1975 marriage, tells me that he and Sheridan “have gone our separate ways, but we wish the best for each other, and we hope only good things come to us in our journeys through life.” Now if someone could just put that to music….
Meanwhile the on-again, off-again romance between Lois & Clark heartthrob Dean Cain and pro volleyball player Gabrielle Reese appears to be over again. A source close to both says the relationship between the two had been strained for some time….
Finally, actress Leslie Caron and businessman Robert Wolders, who was Audrey Hepburn’s lover during the last 12 years of her life, have gone their separate ways. Caron, 64, and Wolders, 60, were longtime pals who began dating during the summer of ’94….
When actress Melissa Gilbert’s friends gave her a baby shower on Oct. 1 in Los Angeles, no one suspected that all those tiny outfits would be put to use quite so soon. Just five days later, Gilbert, only seven months pregnant, had an emergency cesarean section at a hospital in the Thousand Oaks section of Los Angeles and delivered a healthy, 3-pound baby boy, Michael Garrett Boxleitner. Gilbert was discharged from the hospital on Oct. 10, but her new son will have to remain there for the next five weeks. Referring to him as the Wonder Baby, Gilbert says that she and husband Bruce Boxleitner will see their infant son “as much as we can.”…
On Oct. 29 actor John Travolta will be given the 1995 Distinguished Citizen & Good Scout Award at a Los Angeles dinner in his honor. The event is being cosponsored by the Boy Scouts of America and the Association for Better Living and Education. Some of the more glamorous names on the event’s hosting committee include Demi Moore, Sharon Stone and Olivia Newton-John. Their representatives couldn’t tell me if their respective clients were aware that A.B.L.E. is an organization with ties to the controversial Church of Scientology….
And speaking of Travolta, there is a casting call out in Hollywood for Plump Fiction, a feature-length spoof of his comeback film, last year’s Pulp Fiction….
Elvis Costello, R.E.M. and Leonard Cohen, all of whom are unabashed fans of Fox’s The X-Files, will each provide new music for an album inspired by the series. Producer of the music project, David Was, says that other acts—including White Zombie, Sonic Youth and Bruce Springsteen protege Joe Grushecky—have also expressed interest in appearing on the album, expected in February from Warner Brothers Records….
And finally, a story that Melrose Place writers would be proud of: The star of a TV series divorces his third wife, a costar on his show, and becomes engaged to one of the show’s extras—only to have to do a love scene with his ex. Well, the show is Renegade, and the star is Lorenzo Lamas, who is engaged to actress Shauna Sand. As part of a plot twist in the Nov. 20 episode, he’ll carry his former Mrs., Kathleen Kinmont, over a threshold and then get romantic. Is this the sort of acting that earns people Emmys?
