Sure, Uma Thurman using lush beauty products to keep herself gorgeous is a little like—to paraphrase that sage Andy Roddick—bringing sand to the beach. But that didn’t stop the star from calling her personal aesthetician and asking that a shipment of själ’s orbe eye cream, serum and kura moisturizer be rushed to the set of her upcoming movie In Bloom. And voilà! Disaster averted—Thurman remains beautiful….

STAR SIGHTINGS: Attention, diamond lovers: H.Stern has launched a blingy jewelry collection featuring the new “Stern Star” diamond cut, which claims to reflect more light than traditional cuts (read: sparkly!). “H.Stern’s designs are very strong, modern and directional, and at the same time quite warm,” says spokeswoman Ashley Judd. Ten percent of sales of the collection will be donated to the YouthAIDS charity….

A PIECE OF CATE: As costume designer for the status-conscious Desperate Housewives, it’s only natural that Cate Adair design an It Bag line of her own: She just launched the Cate Adair collection, featuring leather handbags and wallets in so many colors that one may even match Bree’s lime-green bridesmaid dresses. Of course, the ladies of Wisteria Lane—Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman et al—will get first pick of the goodies before they debut this month.

Makeup artist and socialite Jemma Kidd runs with a celebrity crowd (her sister is Brit supermodel Jodie Kidd; friends include Orlando Bloom), but she understands the beauty concerns of real women. “I ask girls, ‘What do you not like about makeup?'” says Kidd, who runs a popular school for makeup artists in London. “For example, it’s annoying when eyeshadow crumbles, so everything is handbag friendly. And the concept for the whole line is education, because it comes out of the school.” Literally—each of her products comes with a step-by-step instructional pamphlet. “All women wear makeup, but very few are taught how to put it on,” she says. “When it’s done properly, there’s a real magic to it.”
