MIRANDA COSGROVE with PEARL
TRICKS FOR TREATS
“When people have food, I tell them to steer clear because she can jump 5 feet!” the iCarly star says of her 10-year-old “energetic” poodle.
“When I was 7 or 8, I went on a commercial audition,” says Cosgrove, 15. “I took Pearl, and everyone loved her. I think it was kind of because of her that I ended up getting the commercial.”
BILLY RAY CYRUS with TEX
NOW THAT’S LOYALTY
“There’s no doubt that if anyone on the planet would take a bullet for me, it would be Tex, and vice-versa,” the singer says of his 4-year-old German shepherd.
“Sometimes I’ll do acoustic performances, and he’ll lay at the foot of the stage,” says Cyrus, 47. “He’ll take a nap while I play.”
SERENA WILLIAMS with JACKIE & LORELEI
HAVE BARK, WILL BITE
“Jackie doesn’t like it if someone comes close to me—she’ll bite ’em,” the tennis champ, 27, says of her 12-lb. Jack Russell “bodyguard.” As for 6-lb. Lorelei, the Maltese she named after Marilyn Monroe’s character in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, “she just eats a lot. We always have to keep her weight down.”
THEIR PAWS ARE ON THE GROUND
“They’re not spoiled,” says Williams. “I don’t want them to get a big head—just ’cause they might be well off, I don’t want them to get any other dogs jealous!”
CARRIE ANN INABA with SHADOW
“I don’t cook for [my boyfriend] or myself, but I’ll cook for our cats,” the Dancing with the Stars judge, 40, says of felines Shadow, Taz and Squeaker.
When guests stop by, “if you’re not a cat lover, good luck!” she says.
LANCE BASS with DINGO & FOSTER
Bass—who kicks off the Dancing with the Stars tour this month—adopted the Australian shepherd-beagle mixes from a shelter five years ago. “They’re my buddies when I go through breakups,” says the singer, 29.
“Foster [in his arms] likes to play with skunks,” says Bass. “Then he comes in my bed and it’s like, ‘Whoa!'”
ASHLEY TISDALE with MAUI
CATCH THE FEVER
“Everybody that meets her falls in love,” the High School Musical star says of her 1-year-old teacup Maltipoo. “We call it Maui Fever.”
SHE’S POTTY TRAINED! (SORT OF)
“Because we were in hotels all the time and traveling when she was little, she would want to go to the bathroom in the bathroom! Still today, if I’m at an airport, she will go in the airport stall.”
“When she gets excited, she starts to jiggle and tap dance like the penguins from Happy Feet,” says Tisdale, 23. “This dog has great comedic timing.”
