Eva Longoria Parker’s husband, Spurs guard Tony, lost to the Lakers that day—but got a consolation smooch.
“This is really special for us,” said Mad Men star Christina Hendricks of the show’s win for best drama series cast.
Anne Hathaway took her seat at the awards, where guests were treated to Taittinger champagne.
Katie Holmes, in a Jil Sander dress, presented at the ceremony.
Penélope Cruz caught up with The Wrestler‘s Marisa Tomei.
SLUMDOG SCORES AGAIN!
The cast of Slumdog Millionaire continues to dominate Hollywood’s award season. “It’s surreal,” said star Dev Patel of the film’s SAG win for best ensemble cast. “If you asked me a year ago if I could be in this room with these people I would have laughed in your face!” But there was one special lady who caught his eye: Kate Winslet. “She was my first love. And she knew who I was!” Patel said. “I just couldn’t believe it.”
After winning his award, Penn shared a tearful moment with his wife, Robin Wright Penn, outside PEOPLE’s photo booth.
ALEC’S DATE: IRELAND!
Proudly escorting his 13-year-old daughter Ireland (whose mom is his ex-wife, Kim Basinger), 30 Rock winner Alec Baldwin told PEOPLE he’s never been “more content” than to have her by his side. “She’s my favorite person in the whole world to be with,” said Baldwin, whose angry voice mail to his daughter amid a long-running custody battle caused an uproar two years ago after it was leaked on the Internet. But at SAG, father and daughter had matching smiles. “It’s nice to have her come do this with me,” said Baldwin, 50. They even hit the afterparty before heading out. Said Baldwin: “We’re going to go home and watch a movie together.”
Big night, new look: a blonder Ireland hung with her dad last May.
THEY BROUGHT THEIR KIDS!
Meryl Streep (with 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey) celebrated her SAG win for best actress with her daughter Grace Gummer (right) and some shimmying at the afterparty.
The night’s highlight? “Seeing my wife and daughter in their beautiful outfits,” said Kevin Bacon (with Kyra Sedgwick and daughter Sosie).
INSIDE THE PEOPLE/EIF PARTY
After the show, stars beelined to the PEOPLE/Entertainment Industry Foundation party. Under a red tent filled with yellow roses, partiers like Anne Hathaway, Alec Baldwin and Mickey Rourke—who got an extended man-hug from fellow nominee Josh Brolin—danced to an all-star band featuring the Monkees’ Micky Dolenz and mingled with their own favorite actors. The Office‘s Jenna Fischer hunted for the Mad Men cast: “I’m a huge fan,” she said. “Then I’m going to stay out as long as the party goes!”
Jeremy Piven sat in on drums—after noshing on mac and cheese (no sushi).
Mickey Rourke (with 30 Rock‘s Tracy Morgan) relished his Wrestler comeback: “I’m grateful for a second chance.”
THE NIGHT’S HOT COUPLES
CHRISTINA APPLEGATE & MARTYN LENOBLE
The nominee for Samantha Who? spent most of the evening with her date, Dutch-born rocker Lenoble, but that didn’t stop her from hobnobbing. “I wouldn’t normally have a chance to have dinner with Forest Whitaker and Ralph Fiennes,” she said.
FRED ARMISEN & ELISABETH MOSS
Just a few days after getting engaged, the Saturday Night Live star celebrated his fiancée’s win as part of the Mad Men cast: “I’m proud of her, but we are also just on a really nice date.”
JOHN KRASINSKI & EMILY BLUNT
The show and afterparty were only the beginning of the new pair’s big date night. “I’m going straight to Taco Bell after this,” said Blunt.
MICHAEL C. HALL & JENNIFER CARPENTER
The newlyweds and Dexter ensemble nominees made the most of their evening. What’s the best part of marriage so far? “That we got away with it,” Carpenter said.
JOSH BROLIN & DIANE LANE
The nominated actor and his wife spent most of the night cuddling and talking to friends. “I have a great date night with my wife every night,” Brolin told PEOPLE recently. “I’m smitten.”
