FOR BREAKING CELEBRITY NEWS EVERY DAY
HE’S 26! DEMI’S NEW GUY?
He lives with his dad. He’s close to half her age. So what exactly does Demi Moore, 50, see in art dealer Vito Schnabel, 26? For starters, that home is the masterpiece-filled downtown Manhattan villa known as Palazzo Chupi, complete with swimming pool and steam room, owned by his father, the eccentric and often pajama-clad painter Julian Schnabel. Secondly, says a Vito pal, getting right to the point, “He likes older women.”
Since news broke last week that the actress and the younger Schnabel were “dancing and grinding” at a party thrown by Naomi Campbell in Jodhpur, India, last month, buzz over the unlikely couple (De-Vito, anyone?) has only increased. “It seems like they may be seriously into each other,” says Schnabel’s friend. “He’s been telling his close friends about her.” But another source denies any romance. “They aren’t dating,” insists the source. “Demi did a reading for a charity, GEMS, organized by one of his sisters, and the group of them are friends.”
Vito is known for his taste in expensive art and gorgeous women. At 21, he was linked to supermodel Elle MacPherson, then 44. “He loves a beautiful woman on his arm, just like his father,” says another friend. (Julian is reportedly engaged to model May Andersen, 30.) “He’s sexy, mysterious and kind of intimidating. He plays hard to get and women seem to like it.”
Meanwhile, Moore has been spending more time with her daughters Rumer, 24, Scout, 21, and Tallulah, 18. “Demi’s trying [to mend their relationship],” says a family friend, who notes that the girls weren’t thrilled about the new romance rumors. “Rumer was pretty annoyed to hear any of it because all of them know Vito. They have friends in common. It’s too close to home.”
