BOBBI KRISTINA BROWN LOST WITHOUT HER MOM
Eight months after Whitney Houston’s death, friends and family are concerned her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is still struggling to cope with the loss of her mother-and that the fortune Brown has inherited, which some estimate at $20 million, could be in jeopardy. “She’s shown a wild, rebellious streak and does whatever she wants without worrying about the consequences,” a source close to Brown tells Scoop, adding that Houston’s only child, 19, has been spending money frivolously on partying, clothing and decor for her new Atlanta home. “She’s vulnerable and immature. Some family members are afraid others will help her spend her money and then it will be gone.” Which helps explain why on Sept. 25 Brown’s grandmother Cissy Houston, 79, and aunt Pat Houston, 52—trustees of the late singer’s estate, and Brown’s costars in the reality show The Houstons: On Our Own, debuting Oct. 24-petitioned to change when Brown can collect the bulk of her mom’s estate. “[She] is a highly visible target for those who would exert undue influence over her inheritance,” the filing states. Could Brown’s boyfriend Nick Gordon, 23, whom Whitney took in and raised alongside her daughter, be a cause for concern? On Sept. 18 Gordon tweeted a photo of himself with a gun, then apologized, telling Scoop, “I should have known better.” People close to Brown hope she’ll never utter the same words. Says the Brown source: “Her family is trying to protect her from herself.”
LIAM NEESON LIFE AFTER NATASHA
He’s topping the box office as a rugged action star in Taken 2, but for Liam Neeson, showbiz success takes a backseat to life with his two sons, Micheal, 17, and Daniel, 16. Three and a half years after his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, died unexpectedly after falling on a ski slope, Neeson, 60, has adjusted to being a single father. “He makes a lot of time for them, despite traveling around the world,” says a source, who notes that the actor is still close with Richardson’s family. “He wants to maintain as normal a life as possible for everyone.” As for his love life, friends say that Neeson, who recently dated British publicist Freya St. Johnston, is not seeing anyone seriously. “Romance isn’t a priority,” says the source. “He’s focused on his family.”

FEUDS OF THE WEEK
Mariah vs. Nicki
Nicki Minaj isn’t one for subtlety. So when she and fellow American Idol judge Mariah Carey disagreed during auditions in Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 2, the hip-hop artist, 29, exploded in a rant filled with F-bombs (that was caught on tape), followed by what a source confirms was a gun threat that left Carey, 42, so scared she hired extra security. But days later, auditions resumed with all judges present and the network praising them as the “most passionate” panel yet. But should Idol producers have taken the threat seriously and fired Minaj? Legal experts say no gun means no real criminal charges and no pink slip. Idol would “have to assess whether this is a real threat or someone blowing off steam,” says N.Y. attorney Stephen Tisman. And even Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, says it’s all blown out of proportion: “Nobody should lose their job as long as we can all play together.”
Peter Cook & Suzanne Shaw vs. Christie Brinkley
Four years after the divorce and things are still ugly between Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook. Cook’s wife of eight months, Suzanne Shaw, 42, recently fled to Bali “in part to escape Christie, who has been spreading hate and unforgiving revenge against the father of her children,” she tells Scoop. A Brinkley source calls the story “a joke” and suggests Shaw left Cook due to “his philandering ways and money problems.” But Cook counters, “We are happily married and in love.” The one voice of reason in the situation: the couple’s son Jack Brinkley-Cook, 17, who issued a statement saying, “The divorce took place years ago, and it’s time for everyone to move past it.”
