FOR BREAKING CELEBRITY NEWS EVERY DAY
Kate Hudson & A-Rod
Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez checked out property in Los Angeles with a real-estate broker and Hudson’s stepdad, Kurt Russell. On Sept. 24 the actress, 30, and the Yankees slugger, 34, whose home base is New York City, brought their kids—Hudson’s son Ryder, 5, and Rodriguez’s daughters Natasha, 4, and Ella, 17 months—to look at real estate near the Pacific Ocean. A source tells Scoop that the couple visited a hillside lot in Malibu and a $9.9 million, six-bedroom mansion in Pacific Palisades “that’s perfect for an expanding family,” equipped with a large, kid-friendly yard, tennis court and pool. During the outing Hudson was maternal and affectionate with the children, at one point even carrying Ella around and showering her with kisses. “They all seemed so comfortable together,” says an eyewitness.
HE’S OFF THE SHOW!
Kate Gosselin’s divorce from husband Jon is still pending, but as of Nov. 2 they’ll be officially separated—onscreen, anyway. On Sept. 29, TLC said Jon would no longer appear on the reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8, and the program would be renamed Kate Plus 8. “The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers,” the network said in a statement. A source close to Jon says he’ll “still appear on the show from time to time. But given his recent antics, there was no way the show could continue to portray him as a doting dad—not while all this other crap was going on.” Jon’s reps could not be reached for comment.

ON-SET IN INDIA
Filming Eat, Pray, Love, Julia Roberts has been globe-trotting, but it’s the movie’s Indian location that has gotten the most notice. According to The Daily Telegraph and local reports, the film’s security of 350 guards and bulletproof cars closed a temple in Pataudi before the start of a nine-day Hindu festival. Roberts, whom the press has called “Hindu-friendly,” leaves for Bali in mid-October.

Claire Danes, 30, and Hugh Dancy, 34, quietly tied the knot in France several weeks ago, their reps confirmed exclusively to People. The couple, who revealed their engagement in February, fell in love on the set of their 2007 film Evening. “They are perfect for each other,” said costar Mamie Gummer.
Gossip Girl costar Kelly Rutherford’s custody battle has taken another dramatic turn. On Sept. 24 the actress, 40, obtained a restraining order against her estranged husband, German businessman Daniel Giersch, 35, claiming he “has begun to follow me, my mother and my nanny, and he shows up unexpectedly to threaten and scare us.” Giersch denies all claims, arguing Rutherford has withheld access to their son Hermès, 2, in violation of a court order. The couple are squabbling over their son and daughter Helena, 4 months. A hearing is set for Oct. 15.
Two weeks after his VMA fiasco, Kanye West crashed the stage again—this time for charity.
