Christie Brinkley & Peter Cook

It’s been three months since Christie Brinkley, 54, and ex-husband Peter Cook, 49, settled their nasty divorce, but the embittered exes are back in battle mode. On Oct. 8, two days before Cook went public with his side of their divorce saga in a revealing interview on 20/20, Brinkley filed a motion for a restraining order against him. Upset that children Jack, 13, and Sailor, 10, might find out more about their parents’ split from the interview, Brinkley—their sole custodial parent—hoped to suspend Cook’s visitation with them that weekend.

A judge denied the request, but the fight continued Oct. 10 when, in accordance with a court order that required him to take the children away from home during the broadcast, Cook flew them to New York’s Lake George in a single-engine plane. But, says a Brinkley friend, “It’s always been a family rule [not to take single-engine planes], which Peter used to abide by. She was concerned for their safety.” (Counters Cook: “I’m under no legal obligation to follow her rules anymore.”) Brinkley called the airport to stop Cook, another source says, but to no avail: The trio “had a wonderful flight,” according to a Cook source, adding that Brinkley was only “trying to interfere with his time with the children.”

Later that evening Cook appeared on 20/20: “I’m not the pervert that I’ve been painted to be,” he said, admitting his 2005 affair with then-18-year-old assistant Diana Bianchi was a “mistake.” As for their children, “it’s critical for them to have their father in their lives,” he said. But Brinkley isn’t about to let Cook have the last word. On Oct. 14 her lawyers were expected to file a motion in court to find him in contempt for violating the confidentiality agreement in their divorce settlement. “Mr. Cook has chosen to breach the agreement, a provision to protect the children,” her lawyer said Oct. 10. “This is a tragedy.”

John & Jen

John Mayer, 31, recently spent time at his alma mater, Boston’s Berklee College of Music, where he worked with students to produce songs. But that wasn’t Mayer’s only recent trip down memory lane. According to a source, Mayer and ex Jennifer Aniston, 39, “were hanging out this weekend” in New York City, but it’s too early to tell what’s going on. The duo reportedly shared a jet back to L.A. on Oct. 13. The reunion comes after an August breakup that included Mayer’s confession he broke it off “to be alone.”

Renée Zellweger, 39, was spotted having dinner with hotelier (and Uma Thurman’s ex) André Balazs, 51, on Oct. 4 at Swifty’s on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, fueling speculation that the duo are an item. But a friend of Zellweger’s laughs at the rumor, telling Scoop, “They aren’t each other’s type, and they’re pretty verbal about that!” Seconds her rep: “Renée is single and not dating anyone.”

Miley Cyrus

For the past month Miley Cyrus has been stepping out with model Justin Gaston, 20. From church outings to dinner, the duo— who were introduced by Cyrus’s father, Billy Ray—seem to be getting serious. “It’s great. We try to keep everything private, but we’re having fun,” Cyrus, 15, said at her Oct. 5 early birthday party at Disneyland. Still, she isn’t a one-guy girl just yet. At an Oct. 12 London concert she told reporters, “I’ve already fallen in love with 20 guys since I’ve been here. I’ve phoned my dad and told him not to expect me home.”

Lisa Marie Presley

Lisa Marie Presley, 40, and musician husband Michael Lockwood, 47, welcomed on Oct. 7 twin daughters Finley and Harper. Born via C-section on the West Coast, the girls weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz. and 5 lbs. 2 oz. The newborns join older half siblings Riley, 19, and Benjamin, 16—Presley’s children with ex-husband Danny Keough.

Parents-to-be Jerry O’Connell and wife Rebecca Romijn, who are expecting twins in early winter, are busy prepping for the big day. “We cleared out a bedroom,” said O’Connell, 34, at “The Hills: A Staged Reading” in Los Angeles Oct. 11. “I had my video games in there … maybe that goes out the window when you have kids,” he joked. The baby-proofing is coming along, but right now the priority is Romijn, 35. “I get food, make sure all the DVDs are rented.”

Leo & Bar’s

Leonardo DiCaprio, 33, and Israeli model Bar Refaeli, 23, recently enjoyed a Mexican getaway with some extra baggage: her parents! An eyewitness who spotted the entourage in Tulum Oct. 8 says, “It seemed like a nice family outing.” But when they headed to Cancun Oct. 11, a source says DiCaprio and Refaeli “had alone time.”

Following his recent stint in rehab for sex addiction, David Duchovny is gearing up for a new film (he’s rehearsing The Joneses, opposite Demi Moore) and settling back into his most important role: family man. The Californication star, 48, stopped by the Oct. 4 Czech Street Festival in New York City with wife Téa Leoni, 42, and their kids Madelaine West, 9, and Kyd, 6. A festival-goer says the actors, who posed for photos, were “eating a Czech meal and looked like a normal family.”

What’s Wrong With Janet Jackson?

After postponing yet another concert (bringing the total number of rescheduled shows to nine at press time per doctors’ orders), Janet Jackson, 42, is in New York, according to a source, “doing tests so the doctors can figure out what’s going on.” The singer fell ill during a rehearsal in Montreal Sept. 29 and was briefly hospitalized.

Carey & Cannon

With wife of five months Mariah Carey by his side, Nick Cannon turned 28 with a private dinner at Rao’s—”They were very sweet with each other,” says a source—and a deejay gig at Pure nightclub at Caesars Palace. While he manned the booth, Carey, 39, chatted with Cannon’s mom and pals. At 3 a.m., before calling it a night, the b-day boy paid tribute to his wife by mixing a medley of her greatest hits.

Celebs like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Hilary Duff (far left) and Jaime Pressly strutted their stuff—and raised nearly $2 million in a live auction and fashion show at the Runway for Life gala benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “If I trip, I’m just going to laugh about it,” says Selena Gomez. “I’m a ditz. Cindy Crawford guest-starred on my show [Wizards of Waverly Place] and [gave] me some pointers.”

• 10/7, N.Y.C.: Michael Phelps—who’s kept mum on his love life—got cozy with college pal Marina Katz (inset) at a Bowlmor Lanes bash. Katz never left his side…. • At the launch party for “Puppy Love”—a Web series created by Sex and the City writer Amy Harris—Famke Janssen said her own puppy Licorice (who costarred with her in an episode) “knows a lot more about love than most guys!”
• 10/10, Las Vegas: Kirsten Dunst celebrated an old friend’s b-day with dinner and clubbing at Lavo. The group did it again the next night at Tao.
• 10/12, Spain: Pete Wentz launched his bar Angels & Kings Barcelona at the ME Barcelona Hotel.

This Grammy-winning rapper is flexing his fashion muscles with a stint on Project Runway and a new clothing line at Sears

Q & A

You were recently a guest judge on Project Runway. Was that intimidating?

Heidi Klum is a fashionista and of course the man in charge, Michael Kors, is a very talented designer. But I wasn’t intimidated; I felt comfortable, welcomed. I wasn’t pretending to be a couture designer—I talked about what I knew and was really honest.

You’ve now got a line out with Sears, the LL Cool J Collection. What makes your collection different from all the other celebrity lines?

The world doesn’t need another pair of $5,000 celebrity jeans. There is no pretending with me. You get what you see. I’m not going to run down a runway with an ascot on and be Mr. Cool J next week just because I have a fashion line.

How do you keep that body looking as good as it does?

I have a great trainer. I try to make sure that I put a lot of energy into working out. It’s definitely a lifestyle. I work out three to four times a week minimum and I really focus.

Many fans consider you a sex symbol. How do you see yourself?

It may be slightly flattering, but it’s not like I get up every morning and turn around to look in the mirror and say, “Look at Cool J!” That’s just not me.

Posing shirtless, though, has become your trademark.

It’s not only about that with me. But there’s no reason for me to stop doing push-ups!
