Britney’s back in the zone! Saying goodbye to fast food and frappuccinos, the pop star, 26, is getting in tip-top comeback form the old-fashioned way: regular workouts and healthy meals. With a new album and a promotional tour in the works, she’s returned to her gym rat ways and is getting healthy meals delivered. “She’s on a really strict diet and is doing mostly cardio now, lots of dancing,” a source tells Scoop. Over the past three months, the singer also worked with a trainer at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina del Rey, doing a mix of weight training, running and abdominal exercises.

No way, says Barton, 22. She was spotted briefly with Hartnett, 30, at London’s Bungalow 8 nightclub on Sept. 15, fueling tabloid and online reports claiming that the actors are now a couple. “It’s so stupid,” Barton insisted to Scoop at Naomi Campbell‘s Fashion for Relief charity fashion show. “I’m happy being single, and that’s what I am!”
The Office‘s Jenna Fischer finally went public with her boyfriend of eight months, writer Lee Kirk, bringing him to the Emmys. “He’s my supercute boyfriend,” Fischer, 34, told Scoop at the ET/PEOPLE bash. “We met through mutual friends and have known each other a very long time.” Kirk, meanwhile, said he had an “amazing, fantastic” time at the Emmys.

THE ‘EVENING BEFORE’ BASH
Drawing TV’s biggest names, the Sept. 20 Motion Picture & Television Fund benefit (cosponsored by PEOPLE, Variety, Target and Sprint) raised nearly $1.5 million to provide health and social services to industry members. Guests at the second-annual event were treated to food by celebrity chefs Wolfgang Puck and Todd English. Mary-Louise Parker talked babies with fellow mom Mariska Hargitay. And in the Sprint booth, Brothers & Sisters stars Dave Annable and Sally Field got into a texting contest.
From Pride & Prejudice to Pirates of the Caribbean, the Brit is no stranger to costume movies. She relaces her corset for The Duchess
In The Duchess you play 18th-century aristocrat Georgiana Spencer, a relative of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. What intrigued you about her?
I was fascinated by pretty much everything: huge fashion icon, politically influential, and she’s going through this sort of horrendous marriage.
Was it tough getting used to Georgian-era costumes?
The corsets were tough; they’re not comfortable. I was also wearing very, very heavy wigs. I couldn’t hold my head up! [For one], they had to build me a wooden stand so between takes I could rest my head. [Now] I have abnormally strong neck muscles.
Your thin frame is often scrutinized. Are you happy with your appearance?
I’m fine with it. I can’t really do much about it. It’s what it is and that’s all right. If I was younger I would [be self-conscious], but I’ve been dealing with [the criticism] for a while.
What do you love to eat?
I’ve got a thing about roast chicken. Once you’ve eaten it, you can make stock out of the bones. It’s therapeutic. I enjoy cooking, but I don’t do it very well.
How domestic of you. Any chance you [and boyfriend Rupert Friend] are headed down the aisle soon?
No. Marriage is a big thing for a lot of women, but not me. I don’t have plans. You never know what’s going to happen day-to-day, so you might as well just deal with it as it happens!
