Eddie Murphy & Tracey Edmonds

IT’S OVER ALREADY!

A mere 14 days after their fairy-tale wedding on a private island off Bora Bora, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have called it quits. According to sources, the honeymoon got off to a rocky start with a screaming match, and they continued to argue all week. The Jan. 1 ceremony—attended by 25 friends and family—wasn’t legally binding, and the two had planned a legal ceremony upon their return to the U.S. Those plans are now canceled, and there is no reconciliation in sight. Just days after the wedding, Edmonds, 40, told PEOPLE her groom was “the most fascinating man in the world to me.” Murphy, 46, said he was “so happy, I’m over the moon!” For this couple, that apparently wasn’t enough.

Eva Longoria
PILLOW TALK

When Eva Longoria, 32, was photographed on Jan. 7 in L.A. sporting what some observers believed was a baby bump, the pregnancy rumors quickly followed suit. “I just ate pasta and Italian, and my pants were too tight,” she told E! News afterwards. “I really just had a fat day.” Then, on Jan. 12, the Desperate Housewives star emerged from the Casa Del Mar Hotel in Santa Monica with a pillow over her midsection—a pose famously delivered by Nicole Richie during her pregnancy. So is she or isn’t she? “She’s absolutely not pregnant,” her rep tells Scoop. “She ate tamales over the holidays. That’s it. I promise.” But Longoria, who married San Antonio Spur Tony Parker in July, does see a family in her future. “Tony and I would love kids,” she told Scoop in August.

Jamie Lynn’s

FIVE-POINT PREGNANCY PLAN

While her big sister Britney battles for custody of her kids in court, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears is ditching the Los Angeles lights for the safer confines of hometown Kentwood, La., preparing for her summer stork surprise with some un-Spearslike grace.

1. GETTING HER DIPLOMA

She’s studying for her high school equivalency exam by taking classes at an adult education center and getting tutored at home. Her new must-have accessory? The GED guidebook she was spotted toting around.

2. STICKING WITH HER FAMILY

“She and her mom [Lynne] are closer than ever now,” says a source.

3. NOT RUSHING TO THE ALTAR

Though she and boyfriend Casey Aldridge, 18, are still together, a source says the soon-to-be parents are holding off on getting hitched.

4. KEEPING LOW KEY

Forget high-profile Starbucks runs! Spears is “concentrating on staying at home and studying,” says a friend. Adds another: “I don’t think she liked being in the spotlight like Britney.”

5. TAKING TOT TRAINING

“She’s really excited. Her mom’s been taking her to parenting classes.”

ARE CELEBS USING STEROIDS?

Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Wyclef Jean, Timbaland and Tyler Perry are among thousands mentioned in an Albany, N.Y., prosecutor’s investigation of steroids and human growth hormone trafficking. Why would celebs use such drugs? With steroids, says Boston University professor Dr. Thomas Perls, “there does seem to be an increase in muscle mass, but that’s due to water accumulating in the muscle. It does not help you lose weight.” Albany County D.A. David Soares says there is no evidence the stars have broken the law—and their reps wouldn’t comment. However, Mary J. Blige’s did: “[She] has never taken illegal steroids.” Besides, Soares says he isn’t going after bulked-up celebrities. “We want to send a powerful message,” he says. “We want to take down the drug syndicate.”

Mary-Kate
HER NEW BOYFRIEND!

Mary-Kate Olsen, 21, may have found a love connection with N.Y.C.-based artist Nate Lowman, 29. “They’re dating,” a source tells Scoop. The duo didn’t do much to hide their relationship on Jan. 11 and Jan. 12, when they spent both nights partying at N.Y.C.’s Beatrice Inn, downing beers and holding hands.

Dannielynn’s

Health Problem

Anna Nicole Smith‘s 16-month-old daughter, Dannielynn—born five months before her mother’s death—is battling a vision problem, the tot’s dad, Larry Birkhead, revealed. Birkhead, 35, says Dannielynn suffers from strabismus, “commonly known as cross-eyed or wall-eyed,” according to Stra-bismus.org. As for speculation her mother’s drug use during her pregnancy may be responsible for the condition, Birkhead told E.T. he consulted doctors, “and they said it’s more likely a genetic reason could have caused it.” Dannielynn now wears an eye patch. “I am optimistic about the patching,” he tells Scoop, “but understand if there is a need for surgery then we must go that route. We have been through tougher times than this.”

GUY TALK WITH …

NICK LACHEY

At a Jan. 15 N.Y.C. event for the Super Skins Celebrity Golf Classic, slated for Feb. 2 in Scottsdale, Ariz., Lachey—with race car champ Jimmie Johnson at his side—dished about:

MARRIAGE PLANS: “I’m not engaged [to girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo]. That’s the truth. I’m only ‘engaged in life’ right now.”

HIS LOVE OF GOLF: “Playing golf is fun. Hanging out with guys is fun. Though I’m a pretty poor golf player! And Vanessa? When I say I’m bad it doesn’t begin to touch what she is at the golf course!”

STAYING IN SHAPE: “I don’t really use a trainer. I just work out on my own, in my little gym in the house. But I haven’t been doing enough of it lately!”

FAME: “Doing what you love to do and leading an anonymous life? That’s my dream. I didn’t get involved in what I do because I wanted to be famous … I wanted to do my thing.”

Did Hilary Lip-Sync?

Hilary Duff insists she didn’t lip-sync at a Jan. 12 concert in Mexico, following the online leak of a video clip that shows her singing into the mic—but not being heard. “She was not lip-syncing,” say her reps, adding that the star’s mic was inadvertently set to mute.

MARK CONSUELOS

The hottie husband of Kelly Ripa dishes about his marriage, his kids—and how he thinks he can’t dance

Q&A

In your new TV movie, Husband for Hire, your character dances the salsa. Did it come naturally?

I’m a horrible dancer! It’s something that I really don’t like to do.

So how’d you pull it off?

The magic of movies, I guess. A lot of editing!

Do you and wife Kelly Ripa dance at weddings?

She drags me, kicking and screaming. My head can dance. I bob my head up and down. That’s the only part of me that actually has rhythm.

How did you like filming in New Mexico?

The food was great. Everything had chilies and peppers. Everyone was sweating from it … but I couldn’t get enough of it. I was like, “I may not be able to dance, but I can eat peppers!”

Did Kelly and your kids visit the set?

They didn’t. But I had a family reunion at the same time in Arizona, and Kelly took the kids to Arizona. I was able to sneak away for a few days and spend time with them.

How do you keep your marriage fun?

Well, we have three kids [Michael, 10, Lola, 6, and Joaquin, 4]. They keep it fun for you. You don’t have a choice—you gotta keep it light.
