Jamie Lynn Spears’ 17th birthday is April 4, but she appears to have received an early gift from her baby daddy Casey Aldridge: an engagement ring. “She’s been showing it off,” a source tells Scoop. A Spears rep won’t comment, but another source confirms Aldridge, 18, bought a diamond ring with a gold band encrusted with several small diamonds for Jamie Lynn, who is due to give birth in June. The ring may be a tangible sign of the young couple’s increasingly mature outlook. “She used to talk about clothes and stuff, but now [it’s] houses,” says an Aldridge relative. “She’s more focused on the future.” That includes getting to know future in-laws: The parents-to-be went on a double date Easter weekend with one of Aldridge’s cousins and his fiancée. Plus, they were spotted house-hunting near his hometown of Gloster, Miss. “Once they get settled,” says a source, “they’re going to be okay.”

Spring flings are everywhere—and they’re blooming

SETTING UP HOUSE: After Hudson, 28, arrived in February for her first trip to Miami and stayed in a hotel, she and son Ryder, 4, returned in March and seem to be camped out at the Miami digs he’s staying in while filming Marley & Me. According to a source, “They’ve been spending as much time as they can together.”

OWEN’S HAPPY—VERY HAPPY: “He’s had a different smile on his face since she got to Miami,” adds the source.

DREAM DATES: They held hands at the movies on March 16, then had a mellow dinner at Michael’s Genuine on March 17 and rode their bikes together on March 20.

CAMERA-SHY COUPLE: “He’s protective of her,” a source says of Bloom, 31, and model Kerr, 22. “He’s trying to keep them out of the spotlight.”

CROSS-COUNTRY COURTSHIP: Bloom’s based in L.A. and Kerr’s in N.Y.C., but that isn’t stopping them: She flew to L.A. Easter weekend and they went furniture shopping in Venice, followed by a quiet dinner at La Poubelle.

THEIR DAILY RITUAL: While Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4, are in school, Witherspoon, 32, and Gyllenhaal, 27, can be regularly spotted picking up coffee in Santa Monica. On several Wednesdays, they’ve purchased flowers and fruit at the farmers market in Pacific Palisades.

FAMILY OUTINGS: They took her kids to a pig farm on March 21. “Jake is always playing with the kids and all lovey-dovey with her, ” says a source.

Michelle Trachtenberg

Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Michelle Trachtenberg, 22, kicks off a four-episode stint April 28 on the CW show playing naughty-by-nature (and just-out-of-rehab) Georgina Sparks. She spoke to Scoop about:

HER CHARACTER: She is definitely Serena’s [Blake Lively] sore spot … but also a “frenemy.”

PLAYING A BAD GIRL: I love it! You get to have this completely exaggerated version of yourself on your bad grumpy days, but it’s onscreen for everyone to remember.

THE SHOW’S WARDROBE: I’ve been honing my fashionista techniques. My best friend [Lydia Hearst] makes fun of me because I love wearing black and brown and grey. They might make me branch out and wear a little Pucci!

Priscilla Presley

All eyes are on Priscilla Presley’s fancy footwork, but the Dancing with the Stars contestant garnered more attention March 25, when a rep confirmed she had once fallen victim to an Argentinian physician, Dr. Daniel Serrano: “She was one of many documented victims of Dr. Serrano. An investigation which uncovered his misconduct ultimately led to his imprisonment. Ms. Presley dealt with this matter years ago, and everything is well.” In 2006 the unlicensed Serrano was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison—he was recently released —for injecting patients with non-FDA approved chemicals that can cause lumps and paralysis.

Hunk Alert!

Patrick in Spandex

Spandex never looked so good! But cycling aficionado, 42-year-old Patrick Dempsey—who graces the cover of Bicycling magazine’s May issue, on newsstands April 1—admits donning the formfitting, comfort-enhancing fabric comes with a price: “I get a lot of crap for it,” he says. “My wife [Jillian] laughs at me as I walk out in my garb…. And then I go out, and the paparazzi give me a hard time.”

David Archuleta

Idol’s David Archuleta is battling reports that his dad, Jeff, is putting an extraordinary amount of pressure on the 17-year-old singer. Reports claim Jeff once yelled at his son during a recording session and even brought him to tears. But in an exclusive interview with Scoop, David’s voice coach Dean Kaelin says Jeff is not a stage dad. “Although Jeff is very much involved, I have never seen him do anything that would imply bullying, undue pressure or anything that appears extreme or inappropriate,” says Kaelin. “I can definitely draw a line between what a stage parent is, and how Jeff interacts with his son. Jeff is a jazz musician himself and is very passionate about music.”

Simon Cowell has revealed Randy Jackson’s eventual post-Idol career plans: “Randy is going to be doing a cooking show,” Cowell, with Jackson at his side, said at the Details Mavericks issue party March 20. Chimed in Jackson: “Cooking with Randy … the hotter the [BBQ] sauce, the better!”

Aside from his Idol duties, Ryan Seacrest is also executive-producing Denise Richards‘ E! reality show, airing this summer. At the Details bash he revealed Denise was “on a blind date tonight. And she bought an animal that will be a part of the household that is not a dog, a cat, a gerbil or a goldfish.” Oh my.

Victoria Beckham, 33, is expanding her social circle beyond existing BFF Katie Holmes, 29. Beckham’s new arm candy? Eva Longoria, 33, and Kate Beckinsale, 34. Beckham and Longoria went shopping in Beverly Hills on March 21 (“They were like perfect little shopping friends,” says an onlooker), while Posh and Beckinsale visited the Getty Center two days later.

Megan Mullally

The sassy star, now on Broadway playing Dr. Frankenstein’s bride-to-be, dishes about plastic surgery and Britney!

How are you coping with all the makeup, hair styling and costuming that goes along with playing Dr. Frankenstein’s fiancée?

All I know is my microphone gets glued to my widow’s peak. That can’t be good for cancer reasons. And I have two zits right now, probably from the makeup.

How do you unwind after each show?

My husband [Nick Offerman] and I stay up really late. But that’s got to change. Going to bed at 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. and waking up at 3 p.m. or 4 p.m.—that’s just depressing.

How many passersby call out to you, “Karen!”—an ode to your Will & Grace character?

More than “Karen,” I have people shout “Tina Fey” at me all the time. We kinda look exactly alike.

Britney Spears once appeared on Will & Grace. What’s your recollection of her?

During rehearsals she was so quiet. Then on the night we did the show, it was like she was shot out of a cannon. She really delivered.

You’re turning the big 5-0 in November. Pondering plastic surgery?

I’m not a big fan. I haven’t done anything. I don’t get the boob job either. Why would you want giant boobs? Everything you put on makes you look like Fred Flintstone!
