ABC (Sun., Dec. 6, 7 P.M. ET)
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, the 6-year-old twin sisters who take turns playing Michelle on the popular sitcom Full House, finally get to appear onscreen together in their own TV movie. Looking to give their harried convenience-store-manager mom (Cynthia Geary of Northern Exposure) a break at Christmastime, these two kindergarten gamines pack up their kit bags and set off on a long journey to their grandmother’s house. Along the way, they are snatched by kooky crooks (Cheers’ Rhea Perlman and Coach’s Jerry Van Dyke). To the rescue comes a deliveryman (J. Eddie Peck) with a serious cowboy complex, his head constantly filled with clips of Roy Rogers riding the range. (Speaking of Roy, on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 9 P.M. ET, the American Movie Classics channel presents King of the Cowboys—a rich, footage-loaded tribute to this crooning caballero, who also serves as narrator.)
As for Grandmother’s House, this double-dimple comedy suffers from cuteness overload.
