Sheryl Crow

When Sheryl Crow turned 40 in February, she thought “everything was going to change,” she says. Instead she started feeling like the Marcia Brady of rock. “I feel like the older sister to a lot of these younger girls,” Crow says. “It’s kind of funny.”

Not to be outdone, though, she’s feeling sexier than ever, in skin-baring photos for a Stuff magazine spread and the video for “Soak Up the Sun,” the first single off her new CD, C’mon, C’mon, which shows her frolicking in the Hawaiian surf. “There’s always been a lot of sexual energy in rock,” she says. “I’m lucky because I haven’t had to rely on it, but it’s certainly always been a part of my music and image.”

Does that image include dating? Crow, who was linked to The Royal Tenenbaums actor Owen Wilson in recent years, won’t give up any names but says, “I usually am, if that gives you any hints.” Not that the former grade-school teacher is turning away as many guys as you’d think. “It’s one thing to walk down a hallway in an elementary school, [another] to walk into a huge movie premiere…. I don’t know why, but they just don’t ask me.”
