Can America be spellbound again by the saga of Kunta Kinte and descendants? This continuation is as good as the original—brilliantly conceived, written and acted. (Georg Stanford Brown and Lynne Moody, as blacksmith Tom Harvey and wife, are the only returnees.) Starting in 1882, the 14-hour sequel, running for eight nights, skipping Saturday, continues right up to Alex Haley. Henry Fonda, Olivia de Havilland, Richard Thomas, Ossie Davis, James Earl Jones and Marlon Brando are excellent, as are newcomers Debbi Morgan, Dorian Harewood, Bever-Leigh Banfield, Fay Hauser and Irene Cara. Don’t miss it.
