>Here’s my take on the top categories at the 47th Country Music Association Awards, airing from Nashville Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR

While George Strait and Taylor Swift have both won the big prize before, this is a three-cowboy showdown between Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton, who should repeat.

FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR

Except for Kelly Clarkson, any of these ladies—from top nominees Kacey Musgraves and Taylor Swift to cohost Carrie Underwood—could win. Still, Miranda Lambert is a solid bet to make it four in a row.

MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR

Although Luke Bryan might have to wait a year to be crowned Entertainer of the Year, there’s no denying that he was the big country story of 2013. Voters will want to reward him—he’s never scored a CMA trophy—so look for him to stop Blake Shelton’s streak.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR

If Taylor Swift’s Red were more country than pop, she’d be a lock to win. But there’s a lot of buzz behind Kacey Musgraves with her critically acclaimed breakthrough, Same Trailer Different Park. Feels like her moment.
