MARRIED

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress Amber Tamblyn, 29, and Arrested Development actor David Cross, 48, officially became husband and wife on Oct. 6. Indie rockers Yo La Tengo played at the reception, and the Roots drummer Questlove served as a deejay. The couple announced their engagement in August 2011. • Jack Osbourne, the 26-year-old son of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, wed his girlfriend Lisa Stelly, 25, on the Big Island of Hawaii on Oct. 7. His sister Kelly Osbourne was a bridesmaid. It’s been a notable year for the former reality star. After getting engaged in September 2011, he welcomed daughter Pearl on April 24 and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis two weeks later. • Former Private Practice actress and Tony winner Audra McDonald (inset), 42, tied the knot with Broadway actor Will Swenson, 38, on Oct. 6 at their home in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. This is the second marriage each for McDonald and Swenson, who both have children by their former spouses. McDonald is mother to daughter Zoe, 11, and Swenson is father to two sons, Bridger, 11, and Sawyer, 8.

ARRESTED

Kill Bill actress Daryl Hannah, 51, was arrested for criminal trespassing in Winnsboro, Texas, Oct. 4 along with 78-year-old landowner Eleanor Fairchild as they protested a controversial pipeline planned to bring oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast. Objecting to eminent-domain abuse, the two stood in front of heavy equipment to stop the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline on Fairchild’s property. Hannah was freed on $2,500 bond later that night, but faces criminal charges.

SENTENCED

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, 68, was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison for sexually molesting 10 boys over a 15-year period. Three victims testified at the Oct. 9 sentencing, often fighting back tears. Sandusky, who also spoke, released an audio statement to Penn State’s student radio station the night before, proclaiming his innocence and calling himself a victim of a conspiracy involving the media, the accusers and the investigators. “In my heart, I know I did not do these alleged disgusting acts,” he said. “My wife has been my only sex partner, and that was after marriage…. We will continue to fight.”

It’s diaper duty for Tom Ford. The fashion designer, 51, and his partner, journalist Richard Buckley, 64, are the proud parents of son Alexander John. The baby was born in L.A. Sept. 23. Ford and Buckley have been together since 1986.

VETERAN HOLLYWOOD PUBLICIST DIES

Lois Smith, a trailblazing film publicist who once advised such major stars as Marilyn Monroe, Meryl Streep, Warren Beatty and Robert Redford, died on Oct. 7 after suffering a brain hemorrhage from an accidental fall in Maine. She was 85. Smith is survived by her husband and three children, including former Grey’s Anatomy star Brooke Smith (inset). Oscar winner Marlee Matlin paid tribute to her former mentor on Twitter, writing: “She helped guide me when I did Children of a Lesser God. She really set me on the right track when I was so new. She was a great lady.”
