Reps for True Blood costars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer told PEOPLE Sept. 11 that the couple recently welcomed twins into the world. “The babies were born a few weeks early but are in good health, and both Mom and Dad are overjoyed,” said the reps in a statement. The twins are the first children together for Paquin, 30, and Moyer, 42, who were married in August 2010. Moyer has two kids-daughter Lilac, 10, and son Billy, 12—from previous relationships.
• 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey has something sweet to sing about. In a statement to PEOPLE on Sept. 12, Lachey, 38, and wife Vanessa, 31, said, “We are incredibly proud to announce the birth of our beautiful baby boy, Camden John Lachey. Love has truly been redefined for both of us.”
Rules of Engagement’s Sara Rue, 34, and her husband, schoolteacher Kevin Price, 37, are expecting their first child. Rue debuted her baby belly during ABC’s fall preview party in Beverly Hills on Sept. 11. The actress is due early next year.
Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, 26, was arrested Sept. 16 in Nashville and charged with vandalism and public intoxication. He allegedly destroyed a phone and pulled the fire alarm at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, forcing an evacuation. While fleeing the hotel, he also allegedly kicked someone.
Country singer Keith Urban (inset), 44, and rapper Nicki Minaj, 29, will join Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson on the American Idol judges panel, FOX announced Sept. 16. The judges will make their debut when the singing competition returns for its 12th season in January. “It’s really an honor to have been invited to be a part of the American Idol family,” Urban said. “I’m looking forward to working with everyone and to seeing the same passion that I have for music in all of the participants.”
Actor and drama teacher John Ingle, who played General Hospital’s conniving patriarch Edward Quartermaine since 1993 and who taught such successful students as Richard Dreyfuss, Nicolas Cage and Barbara Hershey, died of cancer Sept. 16 at age 84.
In a Sept. 15 ceremony in London, Scottish singer Annie Lennox, 57, married American gynecologist Mitch Besser, 57, who founded the Africa-based group mothers2mothers, which is dedicated to fighting mother-to-child HIV transmission.
FATAL VISION MURDER CASE REOPENS
More than 40 years after the brutal 1970 killings of his pregnant wife (below) and two young daughters, former Green Beret doctor Jeffrey MacDonald, 68, was back in court Sept. 17 in Wilmington, N.C. MacDonald was convicted of the murders in 1979 and sentenced to life. His story attracted national attention and was the basis of Joe McGinniss’s bestselling book Fatal Vision. MacDonald was granted the hearing because new DNA evidence may point to other suspects. A judge is expected to decide within two weeks if MacDonald should get a new trial.
