TWO LEGENDARY TV PARENTS
A pair of beloved television icons passed away within days of each other. Barbara Billingsley, 94, the cookie-baking, pearl-wearing matriarch on Leave It to Beaver, died after a long illness on Oct. 16 in Santa Monica. As housewife June Cleaver from 1957 to 1963, Billingsley personified the postwar ideal of the suburban stay-at-home mom. Tom Bosley, 83, Richie Cunningham’s folksy father on Happy Days, died of a staph infection on Oct. 19 at his home in Palm Springs, Calif. The Tony Award-winning actor also starred in Father Dowling Mysteries and had a recurring role on Murder, She Wrote.
