David Gest’s $10 million spousal abuse suit against estranged wife Liza Minnelli, 60 (below), was dismissed Sept. 25 in New York City after a judge said “there is no triable issue of fact.” Gest, 53, alleged that Minnelli threw a lamp at him and then assaulted him in a hotel, which resulted in frequent headaches. His lawyer says he plans to appeal. Minnelli said, “Regarding my ex, the best word I’ve heard in a long time is: Dismissed.”… The California band Supernova (which has used the name for the past 17 years) reached a settlement with CBS’s Rock Star: Supernova after suing for trademark infringement over the name of the show’s newly formed group. The band from the TV show (which includes drummer Tommy Lee) can now use the full name “Rock Star Supernova.” … Three weeks after his arrest in New York City for bribery and possession of a controlled substance, Laguna Beach’s Jason Wahler, 19, was arrested again Sept. 22 in L.A. and charged with misdemeanor battery after a scuffle with a tow truck driver and a Department of Transportation worker. He was jailed overnight and released after posting $20,000 bail.
Grammy-winning saxophonist Danny Flores, who wrote the 1958 hit “Tequila” and yelled the signature word throughout the song, died Sept. 19, at 77, of pneumonia in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Authorities in L.A. are conducting an investigation after Cameron Diaz filed a police report Sept. 19 accusing a photographer of assault with a deadly weapon. Diaz said that when a photographer tried to take pictures of her, she and boyfriend Justin Timberlake “chased him for a short distance,” according to an LAPD officer. Then, she alleged, the photographer tried to hit them with his car. The man’s agency counters on its Web site that he tried “to leave what he perceived to be a dangerous situation … and when he did, Ms. Diaz … stood in front of his car in an attempt to entrap him.” No arrests were made.
