ADOPTED

Sharon Stone, 48 (center, right), has adopted a third son, 3-month-old Quinn Kelly Stone, who joins big brothers Roan, 6, and Laird, 15 months.

EXPECTING

Former soldier and prisoner of war Jessica Lynch, 23, is expecting her first child in January with boyfriend Wes Robinson, 25, a manufacturing plant worker. In 2003 Lynch was captured in Iraq, then rescued after suffering severe injuries (PEOPLE, April 14, 2003)…. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart, 23, and Brynn Cameron, 20, a USC women’s basketball player, are expecting a baby in the fall.

MARRIED

Days of Our Lives costars Billy Warlock and Julie Pinson tied the knot Aug. 26 in Las Vegas—after breaking off an earlier engagement in 1999. The bride, 38, wore the original Vera Wang dress she had bought seven years earlier.

RECUPERATING

Matthew Broderick broke his collarbone Aug. 27 after falling off a horse in Donegal, Ireland, while on vacation with his wife, Sarah Jessica Parker, 41, and son James Wilkie, 3. The actor, 44, was treated at a local hospital and released. “He’s fine,” says his rep. “He’s a tough guy.”

LEGAL MATTERS

Former Friends actor Matt LeBlanc was sued for libel and lost wages Aug. 22 in L.A. by Stephanie Stephens for comments LeBlanc made that ran in The National Enquirer. Stephens denies she acted in a sexually aggressive manner toward the actor and that she gave him a “lap dance.” She is seeking unspecified damages. LeBlanc’s rep had no comment…. Randal McCloy, 27, the sole survivor of the Sago mine explosion, and two victims’ families filed negligence suits Aug. 23 in Kanawha County, W.Va., against the mine owner and five companies, seeking unspecified damages.

CAUGHT

Warren Steed Jeffs, 50, the leader of a polygamous Mormon sect, was arrested Aug. 28 near Las Vegas. Jeffs, who was on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list, was sought in connection with several crimes including sexual misconduct with a minor. Currently in federal custody in Las Vegas, Jeffs is awaiting a court hearing.

RELEASED

FOX News correspondent Steve Centanni, 60, and New Zealand-born cameraman Olaf Wiig, 36, were released by kidnappers Aug. 27 after being abducted in the Gaza Strip. The two were covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (PEOPLE, Sept. 4, 2006).

DEATHS

Jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson died at 78 in Ventura, Calif., of kidney and liver failure. In 1978, the former bandleader earned a Grammy nod for his version of the Rocky theme “Gonna Fly Now.”
