Singer Marc Anthony, 34, and his wife, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, 28, welcomed a son, Ryan Anthony, on Aug. 16 on Long Island. The couple, who wed in 2000, also have a boy, Christian, 2. Anthony has a daughter, Arianna, 9, from a previous relationship.
Actress Mary Louise Parker (The West Wing), 39, and actor Billy Crudup (Almost Famous), 35, are expecting their first child early next year. The couple met in 1996 while costarring in Bus Stop on Broadway and have been dating ever since.
Jockey Gary Stevens, 40, who stars in the movie Seabiscuit, was released from an Illinois hospital on Aug. 19, three days after suffering a collapsed lung as a result of being thrown from his horse during a race in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Several days after actress Roseanne Barr, 50, revealed that she is scheduled to have a hysterectomy, ABC canceled her upcoming lifestyle show Domestic Goddess, which was set to premiere on Sept. 20. The network has also decided not to run any more episodes of The Real Roseanne, a reality show about the making of Goddess. A rep for the actress would not reveal the reason for the operation, which she called “routine and not life-threatening,” but did add that it was being done upon medical advice.
On Aug. 15 in L.A, Black Hawk Down star Tom Sizemore, 41, was convicted of physically abusing and harassing his ex-girlfriend, former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss, 37 (PEOPLE, Aug. 25,2003). Sizemore, who will be sentenced in October, faces up to four years in prison. A rep for Sizemore could not be reached for comment….
Actor Robert Conrad, 73, pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of drunk driving on Aug. 12 in San Andreas, Calif. Conrad was arrested in March after he crashed his Jaguar into an oncoming car on a Rancho Paradiso, Calif., highway (PEOPLE, April 14. 2003). A rep for the actor had no comment.
Idi Amin, the ruthless former dictator of Uganda, died on Aug. 16 from multiple organ failure in Jidda, Saudi Arabia, where he had been living in exile for many years. Amin ruled Uganda from 1971 to ’79, and his reign of terror, which was marked by widespread killings and torture, sent his country into economic ruin. Amin was believed to be around 80.
