Peters and the billionaire recluse divorced in 1971, and according to reports at the time, the settlement required that she never discuss their private life together….
Actor Rick Jason, who starred in the ’60s series Combat!, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at his Moorpark, Calif., home on Oct. 16. He was 74 and had been despondent over personal matters….
Robert Ray, 22, one of three hemophiliac brothers with AIDS who in 1987 won a lawsuit to attend school in Arcadia, Fla., after neighbors attempted to bar them, died of complications from AIDS and hemophilia on Oct. 20 in St. Petersburg, Fla. During the controversy, an arsonist set fire to the Ray home. Ricky Ray died of AIDS complications in 1992 at 15. Randy Ray, 21, is in good health.
After dropping a dumbbell on her left hand while working out in Houston on Oct. 10, Anna Nicole Smith, 32, is undergoing intravenous antibiotic treatment and physical therapy. Smith has already missed two weeks of the court trial over her late husband’s $1.6 billion oil fortune. J. Howard Marshall II died in 1995 at age 90.

On Oct. 23 baseball’s retired strikeout king Nolan Ryan, 53, who had successful double coronary-bypass surgery in April, checked into a Houston hospital complaining of chest pains. “The doctors have ruled out a heart attack, and he is undergoing diagnostic testing,” a spokesman for the hospital said.
Under an agreement reached in Albuquerque on Oct. 19, a 3-year-old girl who was taken into state custody for being severely overweight may be returned to her parents Adela Martinez and Miguel Regino. On Aug. 25 New Mexico officials had taken Anamarie Martinez-Regino from them because she was nearly 4-ft. tall but weighed 117 lbs., a condition thought to be life-threatening. A judge imposed a gag order on all parties in the case, preventing anyone from revealing details of the agreement.
