Former Olympic skater Debi Thomas, 29, gave birth to an 8 lb. 3 oz. boy, Christopher Jules II, on July 1 in Chicago. It is her first child with husband Chris Bequette, 32, a lawyer.

A magistrate in Montego Bay, Jamaica, issued a warrant for the arrest of singer Sade, 38, after she failed to appear in court to face charges of dangerous driving and disobeying a police officer. The singer, who had been living in Jamaica, reportedly is now in England. Sade said through a representative that the officer had trumped up the charges in an attempt to solicit a bribe.

Hawthorne Savings Bank of El Segundo, Calif., filed a notice of sale with L.A. County for the Brentwood home of O.J. Simpson because of Simpson’s failure to make $86,000 in back mortgage payments and to pay $68,000 on his credit line. If Simpson does not pay up by July 9, his estate will be sold at auction. Simpson told reporters on June 27 that he also owes $700,000 in back taxes and is being audited by the IRS….

A judge in L.A. dismissed spousal battery charges against M*A*S*H* star Harry Morgan, 82, on June 25 after the actor completed a six-month domestic-violence-counseling program. Morgan was charged with beating his wife, Barbara, 71, after a dispute last July. Morgan’s lawyer claimed that the actor had grabbed his wife after she destroyed some furniture in their home.

Former California Rep. Michael Huffington, 49, who spent $29 million of his own money on an unsuccessful 1994 bid for a U.S. Senate seat, and his wife, Republican pundit and Picasso biographer Arianna Huffington, 46, were divorced on June 26 in Washington. The couple, who married in 1986, have two children, Christina, 8, and Isabella, 6….

Singer LaToya Jackson, 41, and Jack Gordon, 58, her husband of six years and former manager, were divorced on June 24 in Las Vegas.

Olympic skater Scott Hamilton, 38, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer last March, underwent surgery to remove a cancerous growth from his abdomen on June 24 in Cleveland. Hamilton’s doctor says his chances for a full recovery are “excellent” and that the skater expects to return to the ice in September.

Actress Rita Morley Harvey, 69, who was known as America’s Most Televised Girl for her roles on such soap operas as The Edge of Night and As the World Turns during the 1950s and ’60s, died on June 28 of cancer in Simsbury, Conn….

Actor William Hickey, 69, whose portrayal of a decrepit Mafia don in the 1985 film Prizzi’s Honor earned him an Academy Award nomination, died of complications from emphysema and bronchitis on June 29 in New York City.
