Kristi Yamaguchi may have won the Olympic gold last year, but bronze-medal winner Nancy Kerrigan got the gasps for her Grace Kelly gleam. Called by The Boston Globe “America’s ice queen and poster girl” (just check out her six-figure endorsements), the 5’4″ Kerrigan, 23, will acknowledge only one secret about her beauty: “Short skirts make you look taller.” Pal Paul Wylie, though, an Olympic silver medalist, cuts right to her charm: “Nancy’s the girl next door.” But the Stoneham, Mass., welder’s daughter, who is engaged to accountant Bill Chase, 25, isn’t home much these days. Besides competing (she hopes to be at the Olympics next year in Norway), she’s finishing a business degree at Boston’s Emmanuel College. She knows the cutting edge can be slippery. At the recent world championships in Prague, Kerrigan, a favorite, finished a disappointing fifth. “I guess I felt more pressure than I admitted,” she says. No matter. She’s still a blade stunner.
