PARTY OF TWO
Does Jennifer Love Hewitt have a new man in her life? The actress-singer, who has been linked in the past 16 months with John Mayer, John Cusack and Kip Pardue, strolled with former soap star Antonio Sabato Jr. on Nov. 11 (above) after the pair had breakfast together at Bob’s Big Boy near her home in Toluca Lake. Love Hewitt also stopped by the actor’s house in the San Fernando Valley recently toting some takeout. Asked if the two share more than an interest in fine cuisine, reps had no comment.
Like the ship captain he plays in Master and Commander, Russell Crowe takes good care of his mates. While shooting the nautical adventure in Mexico last summer, the star treated the cast and their significant others—51 in all—to a splurge in San Diego. They stayed at the plush Hotel del Coronado, where they dined on a three-course meal and danced into the night. Crowe also arranged for an outing at a water park and a trip to Sea World to swim with dolphins. But not everyone took Crowe up on his offer. Says costar Paul Bettany: “I had the choice between swimming with a dolphin or swimming in the pool with Jennifer [Connelly, my wife].”
Action star Harrison Ford and his sweetie, Calista Flockhart, turned heads when they celebrated her 39th birthday at the Palm restaurant in West Hollywood Nov. 11. The couple, who sat on the same side of the booth, seemed so wrapped up in each other—not to mention their lobsters and a $145 bottle of Rubicon—that they barely noticed the other diners. But the other diners couldn’t help noticing Ford, 61, who was sporting a stud in his left eyebrow. So when did the actor, who got his left ear pierced six years ago, acquire the new piece of hardware? Turns out it was just a birthday prank. What a stud.
Tom Cruise was conspicuously absent at the L.A. opening of girlfriend Penélope Cruz‘s new movie Gothika. The reason: Cruise is working nights on Collateral, a thriller in which he plays a contract killer. Cruz wasn’t deterred however: She went straight from her premiere party to visit Tom on the set. His graveyard shift hasn’t affected their relationship, she told me at the party, since she’s adapted to her beau’s schedule. Said Cruz: “I’m very easy to turn around because I prefer nights.” Cruise is doing what he can to help the cast and crew turn things around too: He’s hired someone to serve specialty coffee to keep everyone caffeinated while filming.
