HIGH-SEAS DIVA LONDON TIPTON
HER BIG BREAK
My first gig was a Little Caesar’s commercial. I was about 4, and they asked if anybody knew how to read. I raised my hand, and before they could give me the script, I recited my favorite book because I had memorized it. That’s what I thought reading was!
I love to cook. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner with my little brother [Nathan, 13]. I try to re-create things in a healthier way. I love Snickerdoodles, but I use whole-wheat pastry flour and applesauce instead of butter.
Teddy Bear and Grizzly Bear are both toy poodles. Teddy sleeps. He doesn’t bark. Grizzly is crazy. He’s running around yapping at people and wants to play all the time.
It’s a toss-up: Titanic and Beauty and the Beast.
WHY NO ONE SHOULD MESS WITH HER
When I was younger, I wanted to do ballet, and my brother [Timmy, now 18] wanted to do martial arts. My mom said, “Well, I don’t want to take you to two places, so since Timmy can’t do ballet, why don’t you do martial arts?” I cried but I ended up falling in love with it and getting my black belt.
FAVORITE WEB SITES
I’m a huge Lakers fan and I love food. So my home page on my phone is nba.com so I can keep up with the scores, and my home page on my computer is the Food Network.
MOST PRIZED POSSESSION
My signed Kobe Bryant jersey.
I’m a huge breast cancer awareness advocate because my mom went through breast cancer recently. It really brought our family closer. At Suite Life we also work very closely with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Any way that I can give back, I’m willing.
COUNTRY GIRL BAILEY PICKETT
WHAT HER CHILDHOOD WAS LIKE
My dad was in the military, so I wasn’t born and raised in one place. We traveled all over Europe. Germany was awesome! I used to be fluent in German. I have an ear for it. But they capitalize nouns, so when I came back, I would start capitalizing things, and then I was like, “What do you mean Dog is not capitalized?”
HOW SHE GOT INTO THE BIZ
I did professional theater on the American base in Germany. When we moved back to Texas [in 2003], I told my mom I wanted to do it for real.
HER ACTING IDOL
Brenda Song is like the Disney queen. She is one of my favorite actresses. I just found a journal from when I was in fifth or sixth grade, and I wrote, “If I could be best friends with a celebrity it would be Brenda Song.” It was hysterical!
HER FAVORITE HOBBY
I love reading. I just finished a book called My Name Is Chloe [by Melody Carlson]. I love Shakespeare too. I’m working on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It’s a soap opera, and it’s even hard to understand in plain English, so I carry CliffsNotes in my purse.
I’m a nerd. I was in chess club. I went to mascot camp. In eighth grade I was the mascot of my school: a wildcat. I still have the old costume in my dressing room. It reminds me every day to go big and have energy.
I quote Talladega Nights all the time. My favorite quote is, “I’m going to come atchu like a spider monkey.” Indiana Jones, Star Wars? Love them! I don’t like romantic movies. Like The Notebook. As a female you’re supposed to love it. It was good but…ugh!
I’m probably the least scare-able on-set. I have a brother [Chris, 18]. Sometimes Cole will pop out and scream in my face, and I’ll literally not flinch. But there’s this one corner that Cole stands behind and he always gets me!
