Another big name is on the American Idol payroll: Tommy Hilfiger is joining the show as an “image advisor.” Beginning next Thursday, March 15, the designer will appear on episodes to “help guide [the finalists’] style transformations as they fight for their chance to become the next American Idol,” according to a release. “I am honored to be joining Ryan, Steven, Jennifer, Randy and Jimmy for the 11th season of American Idol,” Hilfiger shared. “My own experiences at the beginning of my career inspired my commitment to mentor young people who are dedicated to pursing their dreams. I look forward to working with the artists to guide them in defining their performance style and identity.” Though Hilfiger is the new kid on the block, he already has a slight connection to the show: his brother, Andrew Hilfiger, tapped Idol judge Steven Tyler to be the face of his own line, Andrew Charles, last year.
